Minority Association of Pre-medical Students (MAPS)
The Minority Association of Pre-medical Students (MAPS) represents the undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students of the Student National Medical Association. The NC A&T State University MAPS chapter was initiated in 2006 and welcomes undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and Masters graduate students from all majors interested in various areas of health care including medicine, pharmacy, Physician Assistant, chiropractic medicine, and others. MAPS maintains approximately 50 active members yearly. The association provides invaluable professional development and networking opportunities including Recruitment & Informational Sessions by professional schools, sponsoring Meet & Greet Mixers with local health care providers, sponsoring a formal Shadowing Program in collaboration with the Greensboro Medical Society, hosting Personal Statement Development Sessions, participating in Volunteer Activities around Greensboro, and organizing professional school visits.
How can you become a member of MAPS? Students who have an overall GPA of 3.0 may apply for full membership into MAPS. Students with a GPA below 3.0 may apply as an associate member, with the option of reapplying for full membership upon meeting the GPA requirement of 3.0. For more information on MAPS, contact Dr. C.
