The Memorial Student Union functions as the "Community Center" for the University and its constituency by providing a diversity of services, activities and amenities. The Union serves as the headquarters for the Student Government Association, Student Union Advisory Board, Campus Ministry, Honda Campus All Star Challenge (Quiz Bowl Team), Aggie Escort Shuttle Service, Aggie Sit-In (food court), Aggie C-Store, Yearbook Office, Intramural Sports and Recreation, University Events Center, "Aggie Underground" (recreation area), the Commuter Center and the Aggie OneCard.
Additionally, the Memorial Union offers room accommodations and setup services for events that vary from small group meetings to large banquets, a variety of workshops and displays, comfortable lounge areas with wireless internet, a computer lab with internet access, elaborate conference room, an Information Center, an outdoor courtyard, Wachovia ATM service and a fax/copier corner.
The Aggie Fitness & Wellness Center is a satellite facility under the Union’s organizational structure that provides the latest cardiovascular and strengthening equipment. The Union provides employment opportunities for over 30 students during the school year. The program is design to promote fitness and wellness among the students and campus community through physical and instructional activity.
A primary goal of the Memorial Union is to promote an involved community through the various services, amenities and programs that are made available to the campus. The Union’s location in the heart of the north campus provides an excellent co-curricular community for students, faculty members, alumni and guest served by the university. Additionally, the programming and recreational activities of the Student Union Advisory Board have a unique focus on the cultural and social development for their participants. The Student Union Advisory Board is part of the educational program of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. The organization is responsible for shaping the Memorial Union’s programs and activities, designed to enhance the social, moral, intellectual, cultural and political life of each individual student. Through its various committees, it provides cultural, social and recreational programs to make free time activity and education go hand in hand.
The North Carolina A&T State University Campus Ministry Program seeks to provide a cooperative relationship with the University’s administration, faculty and staff in order to provide additional support to campus life. Campus Ministries represents an additional resource to the campus. It has a nurturing and supportive focus, which is provided because the college age group is the vital age for maturing in religious concepts and faith.
The office of Intramural Sports provides students, faculty and staff access to recreational facilities and the opportunity to participate in recreation and sports programs and activities regardless of skill level. These programs are competitive, noncompetitive, organized and informal to meet the diverse needs of the campus. In addition to programs, Intramural Sports provides internships and fieldwork experiences for Recreation Majors. Also, employment and training opportunities are available to the students in officiating.
