World Bank
The World Bank makes loans to countries around the world
supporting programs to reduce hunger, improve health, increase educational levels, develop
infrastructure, improve the environment, and develop economies.
International Monetary
Fund
"The IMF is a cooperative institution that 182
countries have voluntarily joined because they see the advantage of consulting with one
another in this forum to maintain a stable system of buying and selling their currencies
so that payments in foreign money can take place between countries smoothly and without
delay." The IMF publishes reports and data pertaining to international trade
and development, as well as providing economic advice to its member institutions.

"The UN and its family of organizations work together
and individually to protect human rights; promote the protection of the environment; help

Organization for
Economic Cooperation and Development
"The Organization for Economic Cooperation and
Development is the international organization of the industrialized, market-economy
countries. At OECD, representatives from Member countries meet to exchange information and
harmonize policy with a view to maximizing economic growth within Member countries and
assisting non-Member countries develop more rapidly."

G8 Information
Centre
The G8 is comprised of the following countries: Canada,
France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, and the United States.
Leaders from these countries meet annually to discuss international economic,
social, and political issues. Information related to these annual meetings is
available at this site.
World Trade
Organization
Established in 1995, this organization replaces the General
Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. Its functions include administering WTO trade
agreements, handling trade disputes, monitoring national trade policies, and providing
technical assistance for developing countries.

A comprehensive listing of international statistical

CIA World Fact
Book
Published annually by the Central Intelligence Agency for
the use of US Government officials, the World Fact Book contains economic, demographic,
and socioeconomic information on hundreds of countries around the world.
Statistics
Canada
Statistics Canada collects, compiles, analyses, abstracts
and publishes statistical information on virtually every aspect of Canada's society and
economy.
EuroStat
The official statistical center for the European
Communities. Eurostat collects statistical data from the National Statistical Institutes
of each of the 15 Member States of the European Union.
Latin Focus
Data, forecasts, and economic analysis on Latin American
economies, updated regularly.
Penn
World Tables
A good for general (historical) international economic
data. Provides historical data (1950 -1992) on national economic variables and standards
of living for a wide variety of countries.
Asia in the World Economy
This site provides links to information on all aspects of
Asian countries and the region as a whole, including historical sites, galleries of
photographs, and information on government, politics and society in its broadest meaning.
Africa Business Network
Contains business and economic information about
sub-Saharan Africa countries.
InfoNation

Index of Economic Freedom
"The Heritage Foundation/Wall Street Journal Index
of Economic Freedom measures how well 155 countries score on a list of 50 independent
variables divided into 10 broad factors of economic freedom."
