A&T Chancellor Appoints Transition Team
The transition team will study general improvement plans to be implemented at N.C. A&T during the beginning of the 2007 year. Chancellor Hackley envisions this team as a conduit between the Chancellor’s Office and the University community in order to facilitate increased two-way communications.

“A Century of African American Art: The Paul R. Jones Collection”
Exhibition opening and reception will be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2007 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Henry Clinton Taylor Gallery, located in the Dudley Building on the campus.

The Paul R. Jones Collection of African American art is one of the world's oldest, largest and most complete. It is comprised of more than 1,500 artworks and includes paintings, drawings, photographs and three-dimensional works by such noted artists as Joseph Delaney, Romare Bearden P.H. Polk, Elizabeth Catlett and Jacob Lawrence. This unique exhibition highlights works of art in the Paul R. Jones Collection are representative of dance, drama, and music. The Department of Visual and Performing Arts will pay tribute to the collection through performance vignettes illuminating the unity and harmony that exist between the performing arts and the visual arts.

“A Century of African American Art: The Paul R. Jones Collection” was organized and circulated by the University of Delaware. Made possible by the Paul R. Jones Partnership between North Carolina A&T State University and the University of Delaware, both institutions seek to motivate exploration, discussion, and celebration of African American culture in the American legacy.
The reception is free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on display through March 10. For more information, call 336.334.3209


Help Amgen Scholars Program: Undergraduate Summer Research
Program in Science and Biotechnology at UC San Diego
THE PROGRAM
The UCSD Amgen Scholars Program is an eight-week, full-time research
experience for undergraduates, supported by the Amgen Foundation. The
objectives of the program are: to provide students with the skills to
become research scholars; to stimulate students' serious consideration of
graduate study; and to increase learning and networking opportunities for
students committed to pursuing a career in science or engineering. The
program will take place from Monday, June 25 to Friday, August 17, 2007.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be:
. U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents;
. Undergraduates enrolled in accredited four-year colleges and universities in the U.S., Puerto Rico and other U.S. Territories;
. Sophomores (with four quarters or three semesters of college experience), Juniors and non-graduating Seniors (who are returning in the
fall to continue their undergraduate experience);
And must also have:
. A cumulative G.P.A. of 3.2 or above; and
. An interest in pursuing a Ph.D. or M.D.-Ph.D.
AWARDS
. A $3,500 stipend for the eight-week program;
. Room and board: on-campus housing and meals;
. A $500 travel allowance is offered to non-UCSD students for travel to/from San Diego;
. Course fees for four units of independent study credit.

Join the Department of Visual and Performing Arts Theatre Program for one of the most produced African American plays of the decade, Flying West! Follow the powerful story of four spirited women who leave the disappointment and dangers of reconstruction and take advantage of the Homestead Act and go west to discover new lives and freedoms for themselves and their families. These homesteaders were African American female pioneers who settled together, making a place for themselves against an often abrasive environment in the all-black town of Nicodemus, Kansas.
