Chancellor Hackley was a recipient of the Joseph M. Bryan Foundation Unsung Hero Award for 2007 along with UNCG’s Provost A. Edward Uprichard. The award, includes a $12,500 scholarship, honors those individuals who have done outstanding things for others or institutions without fanfare. Hackley’s is planning to use the funds to recruit high achieving students.

Harriet Davis Served A&T For 26 Years
Harriet Davis
Harriet Davis has accepted a position at Hampton University as Assistant Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. Her resignation will be effective March 9. Harriet has served A&T for 26 years, 16 of which were in the Department of Development and University Relations. She worked tirelessly in Alumni Affairs, raised key major gifts, and played a major role in the Gillette gift of $1 million.

“A&T is my love and my heart and it will always be near and dear to me. This is a wonderful opportunity that Hampton has afforded me and I am looking forward to joining an excellent team at Hampton University.” Davis said.


“A Century of African American Art: The Paul R. Jones Collection”
Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When Rainbow Is Enuf
The Paul R. Jones Collection of African American art is one of the world's oldest, largest and most complete. It is comprised of more than 1,500 artworks and includes paintings, drawings, photographs and three-dimensional works.
The exhibition will be on display through March 10 at the Henry Clinton Taylor Gallery, located in the Dudley Building on the campus. For more information, call 336.334.3209.

The Honor Society recently held its third annual Child Literacy Fair at the elementary school, where they distributed books (all pertaining to an African American theme) to each child. Members also read to the 2nd and 4th grade classes.
