FIRST
Lego League (FLL) Competition |
Nanotechnology is a new scientific frontier that will impact many facets of society, such as the environment, computers and the field of medicine. Scientists believe that nanotechnology will allow us to cure diseases using devices small enough to travel through the human body. This new technology has already aided in products such as stain-resistant clothes and bouncier tennis balls. The winning team received the Champion's Award - the highest award a team can receive. Teams also won awards for robot design, robot performance, and team work. The event was sponsored by NASA, United Technologies, Joseph M. Bryan Foundation, N.C. A&T State University, The University of North Carolina Greensboro and the Greensboro Center for Innovative Development. FLL was created through a partnership with the LEGO company and FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), to help bring engineering and computer technology to today's younger students. The FIRST LEGO League (FLL), considered the "little league" of the FIRST Robotics Competition, is the result of a partnership between FIRST and the LEGO Group. FLL extends the FIRST concept of inspiring and celebrating science and technology to children aged 9 through 14, using real-world context and hands-on experimentation.
